- Chia seeds are Mexican origin whereas basil seeds are Indian origin where it is known as sabja seeds as well
- Chia seeds are oval in shape and grey or little brownish in color but basils seeds are tiny round in shape and black in color
- Chia seeds take time to swell up in the water but Basil seeds takes lesser time to swell up in water compare to chia seeds
- Chia seeds can be eaten by soaking in water or just by roasting and adding it to any dish but basil seeds can be eaten only after soaking
- Both the seeds are good for weight loss due to their ability to make you feel fuller
